FEATURED SPEAKER: BRUCE STILLMAN
President, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory

A native of Australia, Dr. Bruce Stillman is President of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL). He began his career at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in 1979 as a Postdoctoral Fellow and has been president of this institution since 2003. As a cancer researcher, Dr. Stillman focuses on the mechanism and regulation of duplication of DNA and chromatin in cells, a process that ensures accurate inheritance of genetic information from one cell generation to the next. He is a fellow of The Royal Society and a foreign associate of the National Academy of Sciences.

Under Dr. Stillman's leadership, CSHL continues to make scientific education a priority. The CSHL Press publishes hundreds of books for adults and children. Onsite, summer residency, and doctoral programs provide students from high school to graduate school with opportunities to work on original research projects. The Dolan DNA Learning Center - the world's first science learning center devoted entirely to public genetics education - prepares students of all ages to thrive in the gene age with hands-on and on-line DNA experiments and activities.
